John Deere Vindex Farm Toys Original Dealer Display - NOS
Original dealerhip display for the Vindex line of John Deere cast iron toys. Circa late 1920s / early 1930s. Display is made of thick cardboard and surface area measures roughly 20 x 96 when completely set up. It is 100% complete, largely NOS unused condition, and even comes with the original instructions sheet for how to setup the display. We have never seen another original instruction sheet! It is displayed per the original insturctions to include new green crepe paper for the grass flooring. This lot includes all of the original cardboard display pieces. Note: the Vindex cast iron toys are Not Included in this lot, they will be sold separately. It also comes with a single page ad from 1930 showing the various John Deere Vindex cast iron toys that can be purchased. This set is as rare as it gets for the John Deere toy collectors with roughly a handful known to have survived. It is the crowning piece to have with your Vindex John Deere toys!
Set includes:
-Cardboard Backdrop: impressively large piece with fantastic original color and condition. Measures roughly 16" tall by 50" long. It is largely NOS, the two cardboard stands attached to the rear have never been folded out. The 4 tabs A/B/C/D for attaching the silo have not been punched and the "3D" tree / bush piece on the right side is firm against the backdrop, it is made to fold out so that it stands a few inches out in front of the backdrop, very cool! It also has an unpunched tab G for attaching the right side fence piece. The 3 heavy cardboard sections of the backdrop had previously split at the original seems. These have been repaied by one of the best preservations in the US with two support stips at the seems along the back and some minor touchup to the artwork on the front. The tree top on the top right had also broken off and was similarly repaired. The backdrop now displays wonderfully and is arguably one of the finest left in existance.
-Barn: this 100% complete barn measures roughly 18" x 20". Two large pieces make up the walls and attach together via two tabs, one end has unpunched tab H for attaching the left side fence piece. There is a roof piece for the barn lean to that folds and also makes up the upper wall / windows for the front of the barn. The roof piece has 4 tabs on each end to insert the tabs at the top of the barn walls into. The bottom row of tabs have not been punched out. It also has two tabs in the center for attaching the cupola that haven't been punched. The cupola sides and roof are NOS, they have not been bent or punched out. Barn appears to have been partially put together in the past, a few small tabs may be missing fromt he barn and a few seems have been reinforced with archival tape. Barn stands on its displays well with the backdrop and vindex toys around it.
-Silo/Character/Fence pieces: All "field" display pieces are 100% complete and NOS. The silo and its roof have not been bent or put together. The 3 farmer and cow dipslays pieces have not been bent on the end, they are displayed upright in the photos with acrylic stands behind them. Same goes for the two fence pieces. All are in excellent unused condition!
