Kimber, whose 1911 platform semiauto pistols are renowned for their quality, accuracy and dependability, was “discovered” by Hollywood in 2010 when the firearms manufacturer was chosen to build Kimber pistols to be used in the filming of the movie series, The Expendables, featuring Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone.

Aumann has been chosen by the consignor, to sell this unique Kimber pistol that has provenance to the movie and the award-winning actor.

The central figure in The Expendables franchise (which consists of four films), Stallone, according to the consignor (who worked closely with the movie prop house), was most impressed with the look of the Kimber. Kimber was contacted about building pistols for the movie, and Kimber pistol product manager Winslow Potter and movie propmaster Kent Johnson speced out the gun to be built. As the storyline goes--long story short--10 special production Kimber pistols were custom built for the film.  Most were converted by ISS for blank use only and a few were left unaltered for actor live fire training.

The serial number range for those pistols was KEX 001 to KEX 010 (KEX is the acronym for Kimber Expendables). The pistol coming to auction is the last in the series of “special production pistols” Kimber built.

The .45 ACP chambered pistol has many unique characteristics/features, including but not limited to, a highly polished blue frame and slide with fixed rear sight and highly polished front sight blade. The backstrap and frontstrap are finely checkered, and the magazine well is polished. The slide is serrated front and back, and the semiauto features polished skeletonized trigger and hammer and polished beavertail grip safety and slide release. The pistol has smooth Micarta grip panels. The pistol comes with one seven-round magazine and a Kimber hard plastic case. The case carries the labels, “Gold Combat II 2008” and “KEX 010” and is stamped “Kimber Continuing The Legacy”

The pistol’s slide is marked Kimber Custom Shop on the left side; on the right side is stamped Gold Combat II.

The pistol’s serial number is KEX010, which is stamped on the right side of the pistol below Kimber Mfg Yonkers, NY.

(Aumann recommends that the winning bidder have the pistol checked by a qualified gunsmith to make certain it is fully functional and safe to fire.)

The success of this pistol resulted in Kimber offering a Limited Edition model, but that model did not have the same features as the custom made-for-movie model, which gives it “rare” status.

Stallone, as most moviegoers are aware, is an award-winning actor and filmmaker who has won Golden Globe and Critics Choice awards during his long career. He’s also a three-time Academy Award nominee. He made his mark in Hollywood with the Rocky movie franchise, one of the most successful in Hollywood history, in which he starred as boxer Rocky Balboa. And Stallone is one of only two actors (the other being Harrison Ford) to have starred in No. 1 box office movies over six decades.

The Expendables franchise launched in 2010 and the series produced additional movies in 2012 (Expendables 2), 2014 (Expendables 3) and 2023 (Expendables 4).

The overriding theme behind the action/adventure series The Expendables has Stallone, as the Barney Ross character, serving as a CIA operative who hires a team of mercenaries to conduct all types of “business” worldwide. To say the movies are action-packed is an understatement to say the least.

Here’s your one opportunity to own a very unique, rare, Kimber pistol. Whether you’re a fan of Stallone’s, a fan of The Expendables movie franchise, or simply a collector of Kimber semiauto pistols, this is a rare opportunity to add such a unique pistol to your firearms collection.

Aumann Auctions is honored to have been selected to sell two very unique firearms at its upcoming firearms auction.

The consignor, recognizes the significance and importance of these two firearms, but realizes the time has come, as a temporary custodian, to find a new home for them.

Both firearms have intriguing “Hollywood blood lines and heritage”; rarely do firearms with this type of provenance ever surface at public auction.

ATTENTION!!!
Firearm Terms: As a Federally Licensed Firearms Dealer, Aumann Auctions, Inc. is required to ensure that bidders who purchase a firearm are legally allowed to do so through a FBI background check. If a bidder doubts his or her ability to pass the background check, it is highly recommended that he or she NOT BID on a firearm. High bidders must take possession of purchased firearms in person at Aumann Auctions, Inc. Nokomis, IL facility or at another Federal Firearms Licensed (FFL) location. High bidders will be required to pay the full amount due on their firearm BEFORE the background check is run. All buyers will fill out an ATF Form 4473, show ID and FBI background check will be performed before possession of firearms will be transferred to the buyer. In the event that a high bidder fails the background check, he or she will not be allowed to have the firearm transferred to their possession, nor can it be transferred to another individual. Instead, Aumann Auctions, Inc. will hold the firearms, at their discretion, until the next suitable opportunity to auction or sell the firearms. High bidders who fail the background check will be charged a Thirty-Dollar ($30) re-stocking fee per firearm, as well as regular Sellers’ fees when the firearm is auctioned again. These fees, as well as any others, will be deducted from the proceeds of the resale of the firearms. Any remaining proceeds will be paid to the original high bidder as though they were the consignor of the firearm.

In the event that a high bidder requests to have a firearm shipped to another FFL, they must first pay the full amount due for the firearm plus any additional shipping costs prior to shipping. If the high bidder should fail his or her background check by this FFL dealer, AUMANN AUCTIONS, INC. WILL NOT REFUND any portion of the purchase price or shipping costs to the high bidder. It will be the discretion of the second FFL dealer as to how to dispose of the firearm. When possible, Aumann Auctions will make the effort to retake possession of the firearm and resell, per the terms in the paragraph above.

It is buyer's responsibility to know the laws of their state. If a buyer bids on a firearm that is not legal in their home state Aumann Auctions, Inc. will hold the firearms, at their discretion, until the next suitable opportunity to auction or sell the firearms.

Grading System (from the 2021 Standard Catalog of Firearms 31st Edition)
All grades are merely opinion, please inspect firearms prior to placing any bids.

New-in-the-Box: The gun is exactly as it left the manufacturer. It has not been fired and has no wear. It is in original factory carton or case with all of the paperwork and accessories that originally came with the gun.

Excellent: The firearm must retain at least 98% of the original metal and wood finish, with excellent bore and in perfect working condition. It must be completely factory original with no refinish, repair, alterations, or additions of any kind. These standards apply to both modern and antique firearms.

Very Good: Modern firearms must have at least 92% and antique firearms at least 80% original metal and wood finish. The gun must be completely factory original but may have some small repairs, alterations, or non-factory additions. No refinishing is permitted in this category.

Good: Modern firearms must retain at least 80% and antique firearms at least 50% metal and wood finish, but may display evidence of old professional refinishing. Small repairs, alterations, or non-factory additions may be encountered. The bore may exhibit wear or some corrosion, especially in antique firearms.

Fair: Modern guns must have at least 30% finish and antique firearms at least some original finish or old refinish remaining. Repairs, alterations, non-factory additions, and recent refinishing would all place a gun in this classification.

Poor: Both modern and antique guns will have little to no finish remaining and may show pitting and rust. They may not be working.
